IF this is true, it does not bode well... what are Fox and Marvel thinking?

P.S.-- Ratner really hasn't directed anything else worth a shit. The Rush Hour movies are really the peak of his career thus far...

CNN reported that the last director did leave, Ithin yesterday. So they certainly are in the market for another. But if its this guy...ehhh...so much for that franchise.

Ain't It Cool reported that Vaughn had left the project earlier this week, which is a shame, because he's produced some good movies, and his directorial debut Layer Cake's been getting good reviews, especially for his capabilities as a director.

According to AICN, Vaughn was genuinely excited about the project, and the feeling had rubbed off on his cast. I have a feeling his X3 would've been great.

Ratner as director seemed to come out of left field, and I'm sure that the Internet will be buzzing through the weekend. He's a risky choice (to say the least), as he doesn't exactly have the support of comic fans after the Superman debacle.

To me it kinda seems like Ratner will accept any comic-based project after his ass was kicked out of the Superman director's chair... now occupied by Brian Singer.

A little ironic and very sad.

I really hope this rumor doesn't pan out and that fan backlash will make Fox re-think their decision. When you're banking on building a franchise after two successful films, the last thing you'd wanna do is piss off the very fans you're expecting to show up Memorial Day '06.

It's gonna be a wild few weeks for Fox.

Maybe they'll get Jackie to appear in X3... If the man can make me enjoy a movie with Chris Tucker in it, he's more than proven himself as a cinematic safety net...

Ratner didn't seem to fit with Red Dragon, but I thought it was pretty good.
